West Ham’s January transfer window has certainly been eventful and it seems we’re set to reach two disappointing conclusions for the Hammers, following the loss of star-man Dimitri Payet to Marseille.
Desperately after a new striker, Slaven Bilic’s side have been linked with Brentford’s Scott Hogan since the end of December. A £15m figure was said to be enough to secure the striker’s signature but Bilic was reluctant to match that price- and he now seems to have missed out.
Aston Villa are now backed as the club to land the services of the 24-year-old, for a deal worth around £13m, and it’s left supporters in East London questioning what on earth has gone on.
Already signing Jose Fonte and Robert Snodgrass this month, West Ham have money to spend following the sale of Dimitri Payet to Marseille and fans are desperate to see some of that used to improve their forward lines.

Imagine if Bilic actually says no to Hogan and we sign nobody. Would be a disaster.

Surprised to see Scott Hogan go to Aston Villa. Don't know why West Ham were so stubborn and wouldn't pay out the extra few million.

@BroadcastMoose Poor by West Ham, upset Hogan & Brentford then pull the plug on a deal to sign a striker which everyone can see we need ????

West Ham January Transfer Window: Sell best player, Bidding 3 times on a striker we desperately need and then turn him down when fee agreed

I understand the reasoning behind Bilic not wanting hogan. Have to come good in the Summer and we know how that will end …

Hogan would've been a good signing & has potential but not for that price. It's on a par with £40m for Celtic's Dembele @WestHam_Central

@WestHam_Central you don't always have up spend big to buy a good player! Hogan is worth a shot.

Gotta feel for Scott Hogan… All month he has been linked and ready for a move to West Ham only for us to pull the plug last minute ????

I can't believe Bilic doesn't want Hogan!

Find it odd that West Ham pursue Scott Hogan for the whole of January, but pull out on deadline day after they've just got £25m for Payet.

There we go there's the Hogan news from the horses mouth. The deal was agreed Bilic didn't want to complete it https://t.co/rJwcAIZVES

@ExWHUemployee @WestHamUtd I love Slav, but this is madness. We can't rely on Carroll staying fit.
— Jack Allum (@westham009) January 31, 2017
@ExWHUemployee @WestHamUtd no point having good strikers if they spend most of the season being injured we needed a striker
— lisa langley (@liselou145) January 31, 2017
@ExWHUemployee @WestHamUtd really poor decision in my book. Injury prone and limited strikers. Hogan has good resale value. Missed the boat
